2026 Is Built in the Small Moments

Why Practice Beats Inspiration—Every Single Time
This reflection is inspired by the work and thinking of Seth Godin, whose writing on practice, consistency, and meaningful work continues to challenge and ground entrepreneurs around the world.
As we make our way through 2026, there’s a quiet question worth asking:
What do you do regularly?
Not what you intend to do. Not what you say you’ll do when things slow down. But what you actually show up for—especially when no one is watching.
At AYM High, we’ve learned something simple and uncomfortable over the years:
Success is rarely created by big breakthroughs. It’s created by small practices done consistently.
Show Up Before It Works
Seth Godin often reminds us that practice is about commitment, not outcomes.
Where do you show up?
What do you publish when engagement is low?
Who do you keep serving when it would be easier to wait?
What do you continue refining even when the results haven’t caught up yet?
A practice is showing up even when it’s awkward. Even when it’s slow. Even when it’s not working… yet.
And especially when you don’t feel like it.
The Myth of Lightning Bolts
We live in a world obsessed with viral moments, overnight success, and “one big move.”
But as Seth teaches, real change almost never happens that way.
Bolts of lightning rarely change the world. Erosion does.
Drops become streams
Streams become rivers
Rivers persist
The ocean isn’t powerful because of one wave. It’s powerful because of countless drops, arriving day after day.
Habits Create Communities. Communities Create Systems.
One of the most powerful through-lines in Seth Godin’s work is this progression:
Actions become habits
Habits attract people
People form communities
Communities build systems
Systems feel awkward—until they become normal
Normal becomes the status quo
Every meaningful system we admire today once felt uncomfortable.
Someone showed up early. Someone stayed consistent. Someone practiced long before it was profitable, popular, or praised.
This Is the Work of 2026
At AYM High, we don’t believe in waiting for motivation.
We believe in:
Showing up on the hard days
Refining the process, not chasing hacks
Building businesses that support real lives
Creating systems that serve people—not trap them
This year isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what matters—on purpose—repeatedly.
So ask yourself:
What gets better because you persist?
What system are you supporting—or courageously working to change?
What practice will you commit to even when no one is applauding?
Because in the end…
The future isn’t built in moments of inspiration. It's built in moments of consistency.
Thank you, Seth Godin, for continually reminding us that meaningful work is a practice.
Let’s practice well.
