Marty Johnson (he/him) is a columnist, editor, business coach, podcast host, and stubborn optimist with a mission to explore, envision, and encourage a better world by sharing lessons that he's learned along life's way. As a natural leader, storyteller, and team builder with a meticulous eye for detail, Marty's ability to frame the big picture while polishing the fine print has made his writing and coaching a popular go-to source for inspiration, education, and direction in his home industry and beyond.

With a BBA in marketing, Marty has spent the majority of his 30-plus-year career in the mailbox, print, packing, shipping, logistics, and business center industry, managing and owning/operating businesses, guiding industry associations, coordinating regional and national events, presenting as a speaker, panelist, and lead instructor at conferences and summits, sharing his stories and advice in top publications and forums, and organizing his communities to make positive changes. Marty has also spent time outside of his home industry as a high-end Manhattan-based real estate stager, 5th Avenue window dresser and visual specialist, athletic and special event merchandise concession lead, office products sales and bid coordinator, K-12 substitute teacher, and itinerant pastor.

In 2023, Marty sold the popular and growing business, Uncle Marty’s, and retained the title of Founder for what is now a multi-location chain of shipping, printing, mailbox, and business centers. Semi-retirement allows him to lean into his love of adventure with the ability to work remotely from anywhere his travels take him, as well as from his new home base in Southern Delaware (though he'll always be a New Yorker at heart). It's now Marty's privilege to focus on writing and coaching projects through various platforms, including through his role as Communication and Vision Lead at AYM High Consultants, which frequently takes him to new places to help businesses of all sizes—as well as the individuals running them—grow into their best selves.

Marty also serves as Editor and Producer of MBC Today, his home industry's leading publication wherein his advice column, Ask Uncle Marty™, is a favorite among readers. He's also Co-Host of the MoJo Motivation™ podcast. When he’s not traveling, writing, or coaching, Marty leans into his love of the arts and enjoys volunteering (and occasionally appearing on stage) at local theaters. He also tries to help when he can at neighborhood resource centers.

Through it all, Marty counts it a true honor to serve as a voice, influencer, and mentor in his communities and on growing platforms. As a cancer survivor who, through grace and intense chemotherapy, overcame an aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2013, Marty believes wholeheartedly in silver linings, hoping to use his bonus years to spread optimism, positivity, hope, joy, and gratitude.

While none of his siblings had children, Marty takes the honorary title of “uncle” bestowed on him by friends and cousins very seriously; he’s honored and blessed to be “Uncle Marty” to dozens of amazing humans, and now a new generation of great-niblings whose photos cloud the surface of his fridge.
